Prehistorigami: Ancient Animals in Folded Paper

Origami is the ancient art of folding paper into the shapes of animals and
objects using a single square of paper.  In the last few decades, origami
has attracted the interest or many creative people, and they have developed
folding techniques that allow them to create incredibly detailed and complex
models.  This new, custom-made exhibit  features  origami models of many
different prehistoric animals created by over a dozen top origami artists
from all over the world.

Featured models include the flying reptile
Pteranodon, the sail-backed mammal relative Dimetrodon, a woolly mammoth,
even a skeleton of Tyrannosaurus. Over forty-five, intricately-folded
creatures from the past will be part of this display. Nothing like this
unique exhibit has ever been seen in southern Utah, and visitors will have
an opportunity to fold an origami crane to take home.

The display will remain open until the week prior to Dino Days 2012.

Dino Park Party

This was a spectacular event and we thank our generous donors and everyone involved who helped make this happen!  The money raised at this fundraising dinner will help build a great Dino Park at the St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site where children can have fun while learning, families can be entertained and enlightened, birthdays can be celebrated with a party, and the community can bring guests to show off this marvelous site.

Congratulations to Jackson Draney of Pleasant Grove , Utah, who participated in our "Name the Scelidosaurus" event for children during the Special Exhibit.  His entry was chosen as the winning name as it reflected the dinosaur as well as its original English location.  The name Jackson submitted was "Sir Spike-alot."  We hope he wears his new Scelidosaurus t-shirt with pride knowing his name was picked over 1,430 others submitted!
