DinosaurAH!Torium Foundation
The January 2000 discovery of the world-class dinosaur tracksite in Southern Utah was unprecedented, and the opportunities for scientific and educational pursuit immediately obvious. Dr. Sheldon Johnson and his wife, LaVerna, donated the tracks to the City of St. George. LaVerna then worked to establish the DinosaurAH!Torium Foundation to preserve these discoveries and to enable and encourage further scientific, educational, and visitor opportunities. The early efforts secured funding to construct the museum building. Following the Johnson's lead, another landowner who discovered he had tracks on his property also donated valuable specimens to the museum. Darcy Stewart of the SunRiver Corporation donated hundreds of additional dinosaur fossils. Darcy's contribution included an immense 26.5 ton sandstone block that bears 49 dinosaur tracks
in 13 separate trackways. It is the largest single track-bearing block exhibited in a museum anywhere in the world.
The DinosaurAH!Torium Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit foundation. The Foundation works jointly with the City of St. George. The Foundation is currently engaged in several fund raising activities including offering membership opportunities and an adopt a track program; operating a gift shop; and seeking funding from individual, dorporate and Foundation sources.
